"From Cocktail Club Australia, a delicious way to use up the fruits of your profligate tree. In other words, I have too many starfruits! I like my cocktails a bit tart, so depending on the ripeness or sweetness of your carambolas, you might have to adjust the simple syrup."

Step by Step Method
Step 1
With a vegetable peeler, peel the brown edges off the ridges of the starfruit. Slice, removing any seeds with the tip of the knife. Roughly chop and place in a cocktail shaker
Step 2
Squeeze the half lemon into the cocktail shaker. Put the peel in the shaker, along with the simple syrup. Muddle the ingredients.
Step 3
Add the vodka, Cointreau, and a good handful of ice. Shake until ice crystals form, about 30 seconds.
Step 4
Strain into a martini glass or an ice filled glass. Garnish with a slice of lemon or starfruit.
