- When selecting shrimp, make sure to buy large shrimp that have been shelled and deveined.
- If you'd like a spicier dish, feel free to add more hot sauce or red pepper flakes.
- Substitute olive oil with avocado oil: Avocado oil has a milder taste than olive oil, which will allow the spices to be the star of the dish. It also has a higher smoke point than olive oil, which will help the shrimp to stay juicy and not dry out in the oven.
- Substitute dried oregano with fresh oregano: Fresh oregano has a more intense flavor than dried oregano, so it will add a more robust flavor to the dish. It also has a higher nutritional content than dried oregano, as it has not been dried and lost some of its nutrients.
Lemon-Garlic Shrimp Skewers Replace the hot sauce, red pepper flakes, oregano, parsley, pepper, garlic powder, onion salt, and paprika with 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, 1 teaspoon of minced garlic, 1 teaspoon of dried thyme, 1/2 teaspoon of dried basil, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Cook in a preheated 425 degree fahrenheit oven for 8 to 10 minutes, turning after 5, until cooked.
Roasted Potatoes and Green Beans - Roasted potatoes and green beans make a great accompaniment to the spicy shrimp skewers. The potatoes and green beans can be seasoned with salt, pepper and garlic powder to complement the flavors of the shrimp. The potatoes and green beans can be roasted in the same oven as the shrimp skewers, making it an easy and delicious side dish.
Cilantro Lime Rice: Cilantro lime rice is a flavorful and easy side dish that pairs perfectly with the spicy shrimp skewers. The zesty lime and fresh cilantro provide a nice contrast to the shrimp. The rice can be cooked in the same oven as the shrimp skewers, making it an easy and convenient side dish.
