Step by Step Method

Step 1

Bread. Sift flour and salt into a bowl.

Step 2

Add the shortening and blend well.

Step 3

The water should be hot, but not boiling.

Step 4

Add water a little at a time, blending well.

Step 5

The dough should be soft but not sticky. You may need a little more or less water.

Step 6

Blend well and knead for 1-2 minutes. Turn out on to a floured board and knead until very smooth. Divide into 15 little balls.

Step 7

Cover and let rest for 30-40 minutes.

Step 8

Brown meat, Add pepper, onion, spices, and saute 5 minutes.

Step 9

Pinch off enough dough to make 15 patties,6 inches in diameter.

Step 10

Fill each dough patty with 2 Tbs of mixture,fold over, seal edge with tines of fork dipped in flour.

Step 11

Fry, turning once to a light brown.

Step 12

Drain on paper towels.

Step 13

Pork, chicken, or turkey can also be used.
