"A 96 year old woman called this Georgia Cornbread Cake because of the texture. She had been baking it all her life, I changed the name because someone would say something lol about no cornmeal lol Southerners use self raising flour a lot, it already has baking powder and salt in it. Georgia has pecan trees everywhere, 3 yummies on recipe. Everyone and their dog was looking for this recipe, all the old girls in Georgia wanted to keep it a secret and wouldn't tell anyone the recipe."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Step 2

Lightly grease and flour a 9-by-13-inch baking dish.

Step 3

Grind pecans in food processor until flour not butter.

Step 4

Stir together sugar, brown sugar, eggs and oil in a medium bowl until smooth.

Step 5

Stir in flour and vanilla.

Step 6

Add pecans and stir until evenly mixed.

Step 7

Spoon into prepared pan and and bake for 30 to 35 minutes.

Oh, wow! Ten stars, for sure! This cake is just as good as it sounds. The texture is nutty but not dense, sweet but not overly so. I only made a half-recipe in a loaf pan - perfect for the two of us. And can't wait to have another slice tomorrow morning with my cup of tea! Simply delish, Dee! This is the first recipe to grace my Best of 2025 file... thanks for sharing!
