Easy Microwave Marshmallow Rice Cereal Treats
"This is another version of Rice Krispie treats -- no stove and really easy to make because you don't have to melt the marshmallows first. The additions are optional, and you can switch it up with what you have on hand or like -- or leave them plain (which is how my kids like them). You can individually wrap the bars in plastic wrap so they stay fresh and are easy to grab on the go. If you use salted butter, omit the salt."

Step by Step Method
Step 1
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the unsalted butter and sweetened condensed milk.
Step 2
Heat the mixture in the microwave in 30-second increments until the butter is melted and the two ingredients are well combined. Stir the mixture between each interval to ensure even heating.
Step 3
Once the butter and sweetened condensed milk are hot thoroughly mixed, stir in the pure vanilla extract and salt until well incorporated.
Step 4
Pour the butter mixture over the marshmallow and cereal mixture. Gently stir everything together until the cereal and marshmallows are evenly coated with the butter mixture.
Step 5
Add optional additions (if using) and gently mix them in.
Step 6
Transfer the mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Press it down with a spatula or the back of a spoon to create an even layer.
Step 7
Let the mixture cool and set at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
Step 8
Once cooled and set, cut the marshmallow crispy treats into squares or rectangles using a sharp knife.
