Step by Step Method

Step 1

In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water.

Step 2

Add the milk, shortening, eggs, sugar, salt and 3 cups flour. Beat until smooth.

Step 3

Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough.

Step 4

Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes (dough will be sticky).

Step 5

Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top.

Step 6

Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, roughly 1 hour.

Step 7

Punch dough down.

Step 8

Turn onto a lightly floured surface; divide into 24 pieces.

Step 9

Shape each into a roll. Place 2 in. apart on greased baking sheets.

Step 10

Cover and let rise until doubled, roughly 30 minutes.

Step 11

Bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

These are very good and make a lot! I made pull-apart rolls -- balls in a 8 inch round cake pan -- made two pans -- but should have made 3 pans as these rise a lot! So good though. Thanks for sharing!
