"From Delish, a great food hack for defrosting a steak quickly. A 2 inch thick steak will defrost in 10 minutes! Hubby says this is, technically, a reverse heat sink."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Turn one of the metal pots upside down

Step 2

Place the steak (wrapped in plastic) on top of pot

Step 3

Place the second metal pot on top of the steak, fill with room-temperature water. The amount of water doesn't really matter - it's just to make the pot heavier.

Step 4

In five minutes your 1cm-thick steak (3/8 inch-thick) will be completely defrosted. And a 5cm-thick steak (2 inch-thick) only takes 10 minutes.

I have heard of this before but use a much easier method. If you have one of those old non-stick black cookie sheets just place the steak, or whatever you have, on it for 5 to 10 minutes a side at room temp and walla it is defrosted.
