Step by Step Method
Step 1
Beat egg whites until stiff.
Step 2
In another bowl, cream shortening, brown sugar, egg yolks, and vanilla.

Cream for 5 minutes.
Step 4
Add sour milk.
Step 5
Sift the baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, nutmeg, salt and flour together.
Step 6
Add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture.
Step 7
Beat for 2 minutes.
Step 8
Fold in egg whites.
Step 9
Pour into 2 layer pans that have been greased and lined with wax paper.
Step 10
Spray with Pam.
Step 11
Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 25 minutes or until done.
