I made this last night for dinner. It has a good flavor profile. I do have a few comments. The very first step of the recipe is to cook your noodles. You have plenty of time to cook them during the 30 minute simmering of the sauce. The ingredient list calls for a 28 oz can of tomatoes. You do not find out that it should be a can of crushed tomatoes until the method sections of the recipe. I did not have any and used diced. I had to use additional tomato sauce in the recipe. I should have used my immersion blender on the can of diced tomatoes. I have subbed diced before without any issues, but that is not the case in this recipe. Lastly, my partner thought it was 'light' on the meat. He is a "meat eater", so if you have a big meat eater, you may want to increase the meat to 1.5 pounds. I will make it again with the proper tomatoes and additional meat.

This dish surprised us the recipe seemed so simple and fast I didn't expect the amount of flavor that it has. At 30 minutes the texture and flavors weren't quite there so I cooked it for a full hour and that made a big difference. The capers are a really fun element and not one I would have thought to add to a spaghetti sauce. Made for SWT 2019

This is a very tasty spaghetti sauce. The meat sauce is very similar to Italian sauce, but the seasoning and briny/salty capers and olives transform it. I'd never added olives to a spaghetti sauce before, and discovered that we really liked them. Made for CQ19.

We really loved this for dinner tonight. This was so full of a variety of flavors. it was a lot like regular spaghetti but every couple of bits you could taste something just a little bit different. I did find the seasoning mix at the store. The first ingredient is msg but I went ahead and tried it anyway. Thank you for a great recipe.

Daily Inspiration

This spaghetti sauce was really tasty -- very similar to picadillo served over rice except it was over spaghetti noodles. Loved the richness from the red wine and the tartness of the olives. Served with a salad and some toasted bread.
