"This came from a friend on a message board almost 15 years ago. I can't remember her name, but I know I've tweaked it a LOT since I first made it. This is easily increased to however many servings you might need, although multiples of two are easier because of the pear."

Step by Step Method
Step 1
Divide lettuce between two serving plates.
Step 2
Core pear and cut into 8 wedges; lay wedges on top of lettuce.
Step 3
Scatter blue cheese over both plates.
Step 4
Combine buttermilk, pepper and garlic powder; drizzle over both plates.
Step 5
Scatter toasted walnuts over both plates and serve.
Step 6
*If you don't have buttermilk, combine 1/4 cup milk with 3/4 teaspoon vinegar and let stand 10 minutes.
