"I'm always being request to bring this pie to family gatherings...so I'm finally posting it here for safe keeping...my aunt gave me this recipe years ago...I cheat a bit and buy the frozen pie crust and bake it per the package directions...this recipe fills it to the top...works perfect..."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

In a medium saucepan, stir together the sugar, cornstarch and salt.

Step 2

Whisk in the half-and-half and cook and stir over medium heat until the mixture is thickened and bubbly, this takes about 25-30 minutes.

Step 3

Remove from heat.

Step 4

Stir in butter, brown sugar and vanilla until butter melts.

Step 5

Pour into baked pie shell and sprinkle lightly with cinnamon.

Step 6

Bake the pie in a 325° oven for 30 minute the center of the pie will not be set.

Step 7

Cool the pie on a wire rack for 1 hour.

Step 8

Chill for at least 3 hours before serving, pie will set up upon chilling.

Step 9

Cover for longer storage.

I had never heard of this pie before and decided to make it. It is real creamy with just enough cinnamon to make taste great. I liked mine with whip cream. Lots of it!
