  • When selecting the elephant, make sure it is fresh and of good quality.
  • The brown gravy should be thick enough to cover the elephant pieces.

  • Substitution 1: Substitute the elephant with 4 pounds of beef chuck roast and reduce the brown gravy to 10 gallons. This substitution reduces the amount of time needed to prepare the soup and reduces the amount of ingredients needed, making it easier to prepare for smaller gatherings.
  • Substitution 2: Substitute the elephant with 4 pounds of portobello mushrooms and reduce the brown gravy to 10 gallons. This substitution is a vegan-friendly option and still provides a hearty soup that is full of flavour and texture.

Vegan Elephant Soup Cut elephant into bite-size pieces. In a separate pot, cook 100 gallons of vegan gravy. Add the elephant pieces to the gravy and cook over campfire coals for 4 weeks. This will serve 3,800 people.

Jungle Elephant Soup Cut elephant into bite-size pieces. In a separate pot, cook 100 gallons of vegan stock with diced onions, celery, carrots, and potatoes. Add the elephant pieces to the stock and simmer over low heat for 4 hours. This will serve 3,800 people.

Garlic Bread: Garlic bread is the perfect accompaniment to this hearty soup. The crunch of the bread and the savory garlic flavor will be a great contrast to the richness of the gravy and the tenderness of the elephant meat.

Roasted Potatoes: Roasted potatoes are an excellent side dish to serve with this hearty soup. The potatoes will provide a nice crunchy texture to contrast the gravy and tender elephant meat. The potatoes can be seasoned with salt, pepper, and herbs for an added flavor boost.

This should just about feed my father's side of the family at the next reunion. Don't think I'll need the rabbits. These Irish folks are used to pink elephants, so they should like this :)
