Step 1: Wash the mixed salad greens thoroughly and pat them dry with a paper towel. Tear or chop the greens into bite-sized pieces and place them in a large salad bowl.
Step 2: Peel the red onion and slice it thinly. Add the sliced red onion to the salad bowl with the mixed greens.
Step 3: Rinse the tomatoes under cold water and dice them into small pieces. Add the diced tomatoes to the salad bowl.
Step 4: Core the Granny Smith apples and cut them into thin slices. You can leave the skin on for added texture and color. Add the apple slices to the salad bowl.
Step 5: In a small mixing bowl, combine the red wine vinegar, avocado oil (or olive oil), crushed garlic clove, salt, and black pepper. Whisk the ingredients together until well combined.
Step 6: Pour the prepared vinaigrette over the salad greens, onions, tomatoes, and apples in the salad bowl. Toss gently to coat all the ingredients evenly with the vinaigrette.
Step 7: Sprinkle the crumbled feta or gorgonzola cheese over the salad. If you prefer some extra crunch, add the chopped walnuts as well.
