Step 1: Combine butter, sugar, eggs, salt, dates and walnuts in a broad saucepan.
Step 2: Cook over low heat for 10 minutes.
Step 3: Remove from heat and add vanilla.
Step 4: Cool for 5 minutes and then fold in crisp rice cereal.
Step 5: Form into 1” balls and roll into coconut.
