Gads Gerry...you shame me for all you do! So happy for you that your Christmas with family is coming together beauteously!

It has been raining here since yesterday. There is still snow on the ground but it does not look good on the driveway...read slippery. Yesterday I saw only 3 vehicles on the road and this morning so far...nary a one! Unusual here for sure! But...it makes me happy that people are staying home and not taking any risks on our 15km of rural dirt road with hills.

I love the forest, it is the best place to hear yourself! Fahadh Faasil

Woke to another early morning 'Shadow wake up call' that gets everyone up for their breakfast then - they all find their fav spot and for most part sleep til noon! Remains a dull day, snow started early this morning which see's that predicted weekend of heavy snow, cold and wind upon us. Wind is really picking up. I am guessing weather wise you are not faring much better.

After the Sunday Advent Service via Regina decided on a quiet and reflective afternoon perhaps do a little planning, add a few Christmas touches with my favorite carols in the background.

After last week's baking marathon seeing this quote made for my chuckle of the day ...

I have read that quote before...and it sure fits your week! :-)

It is a road and walking nightmare here. I only saw 2 vehicles all day yesterday and only one so far today. Taking the fur babies out has been a challenge...trying not to slip and fall. But so far...all is gooda!

I have not done anything for Christmas in my home. I have done a wee bit of gift shopping...but not finished. And certainly no baking. YIKES!

Same old 'Shadow wake up call' making for another five o'clock morning, all back to sleep except for me. Have not completed the ten extra chores and not sure what Mark Twain's “Do something every day that you don’t want to do" will be. Down to a ten day countdown, after that plane lands will be concentrating on family time, so likely have to double up on that one! Maybe triple.

The weekend storm made for an absolute nightmare here as well with roads a sheet of ice, slush and snow and closures. Tomorrow Cathy's appointment, for me dental follow up and hair cut, praying the roads improve but see we are headed to minus 30 degree temps. I shudder to think of going to the city when it's cold and windy.

Loved your Thoreau quote Patti, amazing how some quotes seem to be just right for the day at hand and some bear repeating!

Hope the temps warm up so that you both can get to your appointments! Nothing quite like navigating bad roads. No all about that! LOL

Another early morning, today my Shadow wake up call was much appreciated as the plan is to leave a little earlier for our appointments to allow for road conditions. May be a touch warmer than predicted. Find we have four appointments between us and without a cell phone my first stop I need to get a wrist watch. Been so long have to wonder what is out there these days.

Hope all your appointments go well today Gerry! It may be a busy day for you both...but the best thing...you are together!

I am off to town tomorrow morning (Wed) Gerry, so will not be calling.

Roads were pretty good going to town... better than I expected. Did not get everything accomplished but made a dent.

Not sure what happened but seems yesterday's post went wherever those pouffed messages go. For two days running it's me and not my beautiful black three year old kitty Shadow that made for the early wake up call. Only because I need to get to some absolute necessities. Yesterday's fun peek at my horoscope it was suggested to slow down. Hopefully soon.

Yesterdays efforts saw to another 9 by 12 dainty to add to the holiday stash, have to love when people share their fav recipes. Think pecans, flaked coconut and chocolate chips. Also happy the cabbage rolls are in my freezer stash. Meatballs done, after making my Sweet and Sour Meatball sauce this morning it will be the pre holiday oven clean. Thankfully it's not manual. Then it's an afternoon of watering and deadheading the plantings. Would that I had gone with a add on solarium way back! A warm up this morning much better that the severe cold warning of yesterdays 'feels like minus 45. As is need to turn up the heat.

Have restructured part of the woodshed to make things a wee bit faster and easier each time I need to bring in wood or split. I separate the barked fir from the barkless fir, as we use the barked fir for really cold weather as the bark burns with lots more heat, and the barkless for warmer times. When I stacked the split wood this summer, I did not give it a thought as to how I was going to use it. Silly me!! We also use birch and pine. Live and learn! LOL
