Quinoa Pancakes

Post by Roxanne » Tue Jun 04, 2013 8:32 pm

I love recipes that incorporate the quinoa grain into them cause I am not a fan of the flour. I tried these pancakes recently, and they are so yummy. Not really sweet on their own so I like lots of maple syrup on mine.

How they look inside, mmm. I need to make another batch soon...

Those pics look really good! I haven't ever had quinoa. Does it taste woody or what?

Great pics, and that last pic is just perfect. Very nice! :D I admit to not eating a lot of quinoa, and should. I'm not a big breakfast person; but, boy would those make a great dinner.

Hi Bea :-H . Thank you. I am trying to get back into the grove of posting cause I miss being around here and have started getting back into trying new recipes again recently :)

Hey Dissie, it's a small grain and it has a slight nutty taste. The main thing when cooking quinoa is to remember to wash it well before you actually cook it cause the outer part has a bitter tasting coating on it. I usually soak mine for 5 mins and then put in it sieve (with tiny holes so they won't fall through  ) and run it under water using a whisk for good measure, to wash it before I cook it. If you look it up, there should be better description than what I gave. It might sound like a lot of work but it isn't. The washing it out takes about a minute. Oh but to avoid that, there are some brands which are pre-washed to remove the bitter coating it has. You'll have to read the package to be sure.

Hey KC, I actually don't eat much quinoa by itself either so that's why I love incorporating it in other recipes too. It sure would make a good dinner since they aren't sweet (for my taste) on their own.
