Step by Step Method

Step 1

Cook chicken in a large skillet over medium heat, stirring often to break up the meat. Add onion, garlic, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, ginger, vinegar and chili sauce. Cook until the meat is crumbled and brown. Add water chestnuts and green onions. Cook until onions begin to wilt, about 2 minutes. Stir in sesame oil. Season with salt and pepper.

Step 2

Arrange lettuce leaves on the outer edge of a platter. Spoon meat mixture in center. Allow everyone to spoon meat mixture into lettuce leaves and eat like a taco.

We loved these...they are so close to how they taste at the restaurant...I made the whole recipe and have froze the rest for another evening of enjoyment...made for "Alphabet" tag game...

I made the whole recipe and hve frozen 2 portions for future use. These are so good. A bit messy to eat but who cares when they are so tasty. This is a recipe that you will want to make over & over again - I know I will.

We thought this recipe was very close to the namesake recipe even if I forgot to buy an integral ingredient, which was the water chestnuts. Of course I didn't realize this until after I began to cook the chicken. The flavor was delicious but I did miss the water chestnuts which was no fault of the recipe. Thanks for posting! Made for Alphabet Soup tag.
