"A delicious quick little dish my whole family loves, I guess you could call it hamburger helper which was my son's favorite growing up. No need to pre-cook the macaroni or penne it cooks in the broth. I use my own recipe for cheese sauce #recipe16872 you can use your own favorite cheese sauce just start with a small amount and keep adding in as much as you want until it's to your liking you don't have to add in all the sauce. or just throw in some sliced process cheese. In place of onion powder add a whole chopped onion and cook with the beef, I had some carrots I wanted to use up so I added them in you can add in beans anything you like, this recipe is very versatile, black beans works great in this recipe...If your looking for something easy and very tasty you may want to give this a try!"

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Heat the butter in large skillet over medium high heat (make sure you have a large skillet, the macaroni swells when cooked and takes up room in the pan). Add ground beef breaking the meat up as it cooks (I like to leave the beef in small chunks) When the meat is no longer pink drain fat then add in all the dry spices, continue to cook until the beef is browned and cooked completely. Add in tomato paste, cook stirring until combined with the meat (about 1 minute)

Step 2

Add broth, water, ketchup and Worcestershire sauce, bring to a simmer, stirring constantly. Add dry macaroni and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low, simmer uncovered stirring occasionally for about 15-20 minutes or until macaroni soft and liquid has 80% reduced. Keep over lowest heat to keep warm while you make the cheese sauce.

Step 3

Prepare the cheese sauce as instructed on the recipe.

Step 4

Mix in the cheese sauce to hamburger and noodle mixture starting with a small amount and adding in more until the cheese flavor is to your liking. Enjoy!

This was great. A little different spin on this comfort-food dish. I had to add more water to cook the mac to our liking. Easy.
