Step by Step Method

Step 1

Wash and cut fresh shiitake mushroom into slices (presoak dried shiitake mushroom if using).

Step 2

Mash silken tofu with a folk. Add in lightly beaten egg

Step 3

Add soy sauce , mushroom slices, chili slices and sesame seeds. Mix to combine.

Step 4

Place mixture in serving dish and steam at high heat for 10mins. Sprinkle with some sesame seeds, ground black pepper (optional), before serving.

Yum. This was fairly easy to make, and packed a protein punch. The taste and texture were good too. I used a dried red chili and I think a fresh one would have been tastier. I steamed it by putting 2 equal-sized measuring cups in a pan of water and putting the serving dish on top of those. I am sure there is a better way. I will make this again.
