"I'm sharing this recipe from Crockpot Fix It and Forget It Recipes for Entertaining cookbook. This recipe is credited to Naomi E. Fast from Hesston, KS. While the original recipe calls for pitted pruned, I think it would be great with dried figs...so I've written it with both options."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Brown beef cubes in oil in skillet. Place been in slow cooker. Reserve drippings.

Step 2

Saute onions in drippings until lightly browned, adding more oil if needed. Add to slow cooker.

Step 3

Add remaining ingredients except lemon juice.

Step 4

Simmer on low 5-6 hours, adding lemon juice during the last 10 minutes.

Step 5

OPTIONAL: Mix in a few very thin slices of lemon rind to add flavor and eye appeal.

What a wonderful, flavourful slow cooker stew! I love the combination of prunes and beef, so this was a winner even before I started making it. And it really was a winner. Since I was a bit short of time, I skipped the browning of the beef and just put it in the crockpot without brownig before, and it still was adorable. Will make it again with the browning of the meat which probably is even better. Thanks for sharing! Made for FCY game
