Renal Diet for Kidney Disease.
Renal Diet for Kidney Disease.
A renal diet is carefully planned with special consideration of nutrients, and it is often adjusted as kidney disease progresses. A renal diet may serve the purpose of attempting to slow down the process of renal dysfunction. If dialysis treatments are not being taken, the doctor may restrict protein intake of foods such as potatoes, tomatoes, oranges, and bananas. A phosphorous restriction may limit the intake of milk and dairy products, dried beans and peas, while grain breads and cereals, coffee, tea, and “dark-colored” soda beverages.

The addition of special diets to the Forums an absolute benefit to those needing to follow special dietary needs. I did one lot of years getting heart smart down to a fine art, when diabetic and renal diets were added I really juggled. A treat day was added to make for enjoying life - doctors agreed. We had the best of the best in doctors, my research had the doctors thinking I was a nurse which I didn't discourage as it made appointments far more informative allowing me to check out as much info as possible.
I still find it hard to share but want others to know just how well following the diets work. Do the diets work? Yes. As our renal specialist going over pages and pages of test results said "Unlike most patients these test pages tell me you are doing everything right in following through" I can vouch for it, three open heart surgeries and that which complicates heart issues following diet and exercise gave us twenty gift years.

Yes my wife can vouch for this diet also, she almost died from kidney disease , damn it's been 3 years ago now.
She eliminated certain foods from her diet and her test results greatly improved. She was lucky we are in a manageable distance from Hersey Medical Hospital, one of the best university hospitals on the east coast, which is where she was referred.
